COACH’S CORNER
Understand Your Training.
Don’t Just Follow It.
Good coaching shouldn’t leave you blindly following a program.
It should help you understand your body, your training, and the decisions that move you toward your goals.
Coach’s Corner is where I break down the principles behind strength, fitness, nutrition, recovery, and long-term health—without making them more complicated than they need to be.
Learn the why. Make better decisions. Keep building.
THERE’S A LOT OF FITNESS INFORMATION OUT THERE
More Information Isn’t Usually the Problem.
You can find a workout, nutrition plan, exercise tutorial, or someone telling you the “best” way to train in about five seconds.
The harder part is knowing what actually applies to you.
What should you be doing? Why are you doing it? How much is enough? When should you progress? When should you pull back? And how does any of it fit into the rest of your life?
That’s the kind of information I want Coach’s Corner to help you understand.
BEFORE I ADD SOMETHING TO A CLIENT’S PROGRAM, I’M USUALLY ASKING THREE QUESTIONS:
01 — CAN YOU EXPRESS IT?
Do you have the movement, strength, control, or capacity to actually do what we're asking your body to do?
02 — CAN YOU RECOVER FROM IT?
Training only works when you can adapt to it. More isn't automatically better if you can't recover from the work.
03 — DOES IT SERVE A PURPOSE?
Every exercise, progression, and training decision should connect to something we're actually trying to accomplish.
Nothing is added just to make you tired.
The same thinking applies to the information you'll find here.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND HERE
Fitness Makes More Sense When You Understand the Bigger Picture.
Training doesn’t happen in isolation.
Strength, movement, nutrition, recovery, lifestyle, and the way you approach your training all influence what you’re able to do—and how consistently you’re able to do it.
Coach’s Corner connects those pieces so you can make better decisions about your fitness instead of chasing the next workout, trend, or quick fix.
IN COACH’S CORNER, WE’LL EXPLORE SIX AREAS THAT SHAPE HOW YOU TRAIN, RECOVER, AND PERFORM:
01 — MUSCLE AS MEDICINE
Why building and maintaining muscle matters far beyond how you look—from physical capability and metabolic health to staying strong as you age.
02 — TRAIN FOR LIFE
Strength should give you more options outside the gym. We’ll talk about training for longevity, recreation, sport, independence, and the things you actually want to keep doing.
03 — SMARTER STRENGTH TRAINING
Programming, exercise selection, progression, volume, intensity, technique, and why harder isn’t automatically better.
04 — START WHERE YOU ARE
Assessment, movement, work capacity, limitations, previous injuries, and why your starting point should determine what comes next.
05 — COACHING & EDUCATION
The thinking behind good coaching—goals, behavior, consistency, accountability, adaptation, and learning how to become more capable over time.
06 — NUTRITION, RECOVERY & LIFESTYLE
Food, sleep, stress, recovery, and the other pieces that determine whether your training actually fits—and works—in the context of your life.
The goal isn’t to know everything about fitness.
It’s to understand enough to make better decisions for yourself.
